Cherique Pohl - Founder & Director.
Cherique founded IMPACTWILD to harness the power of film and television to protect and preserve our planet’s incredible biodiversity. Raised in South Africa, she spent over 15 years working in the UK’s wildlife television industry. Her career started at National Geographic, where she worked in distribution, sales and co-productions. From there, she spent over a decade at the BBC Natural History Unit, focusing on wildlife conservation programming - work that took her to some of the world’s most remote and challenging regions. Today, as one of the few impact producers globally focused on wildlife conservation, Cherique is helping to drive mainstream film and television toward integrating impact production effectively. She is also a proud member of the Doc Society’s Global Impact Producers Alliance.
Dr. Reina-Marie Loader - Director of Impact & Education.
Reina-Marie has been conducting practice-based research for over a decade. Her work predominantly focuses on docudrama and documentary storytelling that promote movement building, reconciliation, human rights, and conservation. She completed her practice-based Ph.D. on the concept of “documemory” and the ethical representation of war trauma on screen. Her documentary experience in conservation is longstanding, having previously produced and directed the award-winning documentary HORN - which focuses on the social side of rhino poaching in South Africa. She is the programme leader for the MA in Producing for Film and Television which, among other things, seeks to integrate impact producing as part of the students’ education and training. Reina has experience internationally in the promotion of human rights, having done a Masters at the University of Vienna before working in the field of children's rights for many years.
